Chinese Driver Crashes into Promrath Temple Gate, Causing Severe Damage

Siem Reap—A Chinese man recklessly drove his car into the gate of Promrath Temple, causing extensive damage to both the vehicle and pagoda gate.

The incident occurred at 12:45 a.m. on December 24, 2024, along Por Kambor Road in front of Promrath Temple, located in Mondul 1 Village, Svay Dangkum Sangkat, Siem Reap Province.

The vehicle involved, a blue Hongqi HS5 bearing Phnom Penh license plate 2CA-5186, was carrying three passengers: WANG NANJIE, a 33-year-old Chinese man and the driver, PHAN THI NGOC HAN, a 24-year-old Vietnamese woman, and LUO LITAO, a 25-year-old Chinese woman.

Authorities reported that the car was severely damaged, and the temple’s gate sustained significant destruction. The three occupants of the vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Preliminary investigations suggest the accident was caused by excessive speed and a lack of caution, with drowsiness or intoxication suspected as contributing factors. Following the collision, traffic police questioned WANG NANJIE, who confirmed that he was the driver and owner of the vehicle.

Fortunately, no other vehicles or pedestrians were involved in the accident.

Authorities are continuing their investigation and preparing legal proceedings in accordance with the law.
